Mark Dabling Boulevard Bridge Replacements

Content

Project Description:

Completed November 2017. The project replaced two culvert bridges on Mark Dabling Boulevard between Garden of the Gods Road and South Rockrimmon Boulevard that were reaching the end of their service life.  The corrugated metal pipe structures under the roadway were replaced with concrete box culverts on the City’s terms, instead of waiting for a structural failure to dictate the need for an emergency replacement project. The seven-month project required a six-week closure of Mark Dabling to through-traffic while maintaining access to all businesses, trails and sidewalks. Original plans projected an eight-week closure. The new concrete box culverts will handle 100-year flood events and have a design life of more than 75 years.
