Rockrimmon Blvd Bridge Replacement

Content

Summary

The existing Rockrimmon Blvd bridge on W Rockrimmon Blvd between Grey Eagle Dr and Allegheny Dr was load rated, too small to pass design flows, and had substandard pedestrian facilities across the bridge. The City of Colorado Springs replaced this bridge with one that is structurally stronger, has a larger opening to pass design flows, and is wider to accommodate better pedestrian facilities.

Bridge Closure

The City closed W Rockrimmon Blvd at the bridge location between Allegheny Drive and Grey Eagle Drive. During the closure, the bridge contractor worked extended hours to remove the existing bridge structure and install the new bridge structure. (Check the Detour Route) The closure took place from Friday, July 29th 6:00 PM, through Wednesday August 10.

Lane Closures

After the new bridge was opened, the bridge contractor continued to work with lane closures until Oct 5, 2016 in order to complete the project. Two way traffic was maintained during this phase of the project.
