Garden of the Gods Restroom Facilities Improvements Plan

The Garden of the Gods Facility Improvement Plan will guide the redevelopment of new and/or renovated restroom facilities within Garden of the Gods Park. The City of Colorado Springs, Parks, Recreational and Cultural Services is looking to create a restroom facility improvement plan within the park to address the visitation demand while enhancing the park visitor experience. The facility plan could include, but is not limited to the replacement and expansion of the current facility at the Main Parking Lot, improvements to the seasonal Scotsman Picnic Area, a new restroom facility at Parking Lot 10 and additional seasonal ‘satellite’ restrooms at other plausible locations within the park.

Construction of the new restroom facilities is anticipated to begin in Spring 2018.

Project Goals and Objectives

  • Increase restroom facility capacity with growing visitor demand
  • Redevelop new and/or renovate restroom facilities within the park
  • Maintain visitor satisfaction while preserving natural splendor
  • Complement and blend exterior architectural designs with existing structures and conditions

Current Facilities

The current facilities include one year-round building located at the Main Parking Lot for the Central Garden where the majority of traffic occurs. Built in 1995, the restroom facility comprises of a women’s restroom with 2 toilets and a men’s restroom containing 1 toilet and 1 urinal.

The secondary restroom facility is seasonally available from May 15 until Oct 15 at the Scotsman Picnic Area and provides a women’s restroom containing 2 toilets and a men’s restroom containing 1 toilet and 1 urinal.

While there are no additional restroom facilities available within the park, there are other restroom facilities outside of the park located at the Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center and at the Garden of the Gods Trading Post.
