On February 4, 2023, the Colorado Springs Police Department Major Crash Team investigated a traffic crash around 1895 S Nevada Ave. The investigation showed a pedestrian crossing S Nevada Avenue at Southgate Road from the east to the west. A truck was traveling west on E Cheyenne Road, making a left turn to travel north on S Nevada Avenue. As the truck made the turn, the truck struck the pedestrian, who was in a crosswalk causing life-threatening injuries. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital.
On February 11, 2023, the pedestrian succumbed to her injuries and passed away at a local hospital. On February 13, 2023, the El Paso County Coroner’s office conducted an autopsy on the deceased pedestrian. The pedestrian has been identified as Marschelle Moss, a Colorado Springs resident who was 68 years of age.
This is the 3rd fatal traffic crash of 2023. At this same time last year, there were two fatal traffic crashes in Colorado Springs. In the last 365 days, there have been 56 fatal traffic crashes in Colorado Springs. Presently, no arrests have been made, but the investigation is ongoing. At this time speed and alcohol are not considered as factors in this investigation.

On 02/04/2023 at 7:56 AM Members of the Colorado Springs Police Department, Gold Hill Division. Were dispatched to 1895 S Nevada Ave regarding a traffic crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. One person was transported from the scene with serious life-threatening injuries. Due to the nature of the crash, the Major Crash Team was contacted and responded to assume the investigation. Currently alcohol and speed are not factors in this investigation.
