The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) arrested a suspect in a robbery spree that took place from July 19, 2023, to August 17, 2023. The suspect has been identified as 22-year-old Benjamin Moore of Colorado Springs. Mr. Moore predominately targeted food establishments in the southeast portion of town.
The suspect entered the restaurants and demanded cash after displaying a semi-automatic handgun. During one of the robberies, a shot was fired by Moore in the direction of a witness who attempted to intervene. No injuries were reported during these robberies.
During the investigation of these crimes, CSPD Robbery Unit detectives were able to identify Moore as the suspect. Detectives learned where Moore was living and were able to identify him while he was walking in the vicinity of his residence. EPSO SWAT and K-9 responded to the area and were able to take Moore into custody at his residence without incident on August 17, 2023.
