On Monday, August 7, 2023, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy of the deceased male, identified as 40-year-old Shane Cordova, from Colorado Springs. While the Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death, it is being investigated as a homicide. No arrests have been made however those involved have been accounted for. There is no danger to the community.
This is the 17th homicide in the City of Colorado Springs in 2023. At this time last year, there were 30 homicides investigated.

On August 5, 2023, Gold Hill Patrol Officers were sent to the 200 block of West Brookside Street to investigate a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered an adult male deceased at the residence. The CSPD Homicide Unit continued the investigation and identified everyone involved in this case. There were no arrests made at this time and there is no threat to the public.
