On September 24, 2023, at approximately 2:56 AM, the Colorado Springs Police Department Communication Center received a shooting call for service in the 3200 block of Divine Heights.
Officers responded and located an adult male, deceased, inside an apartment. Detectives from the Homicide Unit responded and continued with the investigation.
On Monday, September 25, 2023, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed the autopsy of the deceased male, who has been identified as 23-year-old Benjamin Gupta, of Colorado Springs. While the Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death, Mr. Gupta’s death is being investigated as a homicide.
At this time, no arrests have been made however all involved parties are accounted for, and there is no danger to the public.
This is the 23rd homicide in the city of Colorado Springs in 2023. At this time last year, there were 36 homicides investigated. A photo of Mr. Gupta, located below, was provided by his family.
