Update

On June 21, 2022, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed the autopsy of the deceased victim, who has been identified as 19-year-old Ronnie Padilla of Colorado Springs. While the Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death, Mr. Padilla’s death is being investigated as a homicide.

Mr. Padilla’s death is the 25th homicide investigation in the City of Colorado Springs in 2022. At this time last year, the CSPD investigated 20 homicides in the City of Colorado Springs.

Original Press Release

On Sunday, June 19, 2022, at approximately 10:49 pm, Officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department were dispatched to the 1800 Block of Monterrey Road for a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Medical personnel arrived and provided aid however the victim succumbed to his injuries. Multiple individuals were contacted on the scene by patrol officers during the investigation. Violent Crimes Detectives responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation. There is no threat to the community.
