The Gold Hill Division provides police services to the southwest area of Colorado Springs, which encompasses residential, business, recreational, and downtown entertainment districts. Gold Hill borders Fort Carson and partners with our military neighbors on various calls. The division also includes all of Downtown Colorado Springs, including the Police Operations Center.
Gold Hill includes many parks and open spaces, including Red Rocks Open Space, portions of Garden of the Gods, Bear Creek Park, Gold Camp Road, and many other trails. Because Gold Hill is comprised of a unique mix of nature and residential, business, and government buildings, the division houses several specialized units. These include the Homeless Outreach Team (HOT), the Downtown Area Response Teams (DART), and the DUI Unit.
The Homeless Outreach Team is tasked with connecting to our homeless population, enforcing camping, waterway, and pedestrian access ordinances, and addressing the unique challenges involving homelessness. The Downtown Area Response Teams patrol the Downtown and Old Colorado City business corridors, work with residents and merchants on issues of concern, and patrol Colorado Springs’ downtown nightlife scene. Gold Hill has a Crime Prevention Officer who assists Neighborhood Watch groups, businesses, and other individuals with crime prevention tips, assessments, and education programs.
