About Citizen's Academy

Ever wonder who comes up with a maintenance plan for our over 6,482 lane miles of roadway, who determines when snowplows deploy, or how engineers develop the major road construction projects within the City?

Learn all that and more at our Public Works Citizens Academy, taking place Thursday, June 12, 2024, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

The Public Works Citizens Academy will provide an in-depth look at the various divisions of the Public Works Department, to include Mountain Metro Transit, Stormwater, Operations and Maintenance, and more. The event will include a multi-site tour (ranging from classroom setting to site visits) and Public Works leadership will provide presentations and information. Spots are limited and there is no cost to participants.

Participants must be 18 years old or older, and aspiring and current civic leaders are encouraged to attend. Applications due by Monday, June 3, at 5 p.m.

The application and the waiver must be completed and returned to the Public Works Department via email at city.engineering@coloradosprings.gov or mailed to:
