The Keep It Clean COS initiative is on a mission to make Olympic City USA one of the cleanest and most visually attractive metro areas. There are countless ways residents can participate, from reporting trash or graffiti via the GoCOS! app, coordinating a neighborhood clean-up or joining a volunteer group that works to keep Colorado Springs clean. Many City departments are involved in the program, from public works to parks to neighborhood services to stormwater management and more. 

The City of Colorado Springs awarded almost $800,000 in digital equity grants to seven non-profits in Colorado Springs to help bridge the digital divide in the community. The non-profits will use the funds to help provide programs and services to create greater digital equity for historically underserved communities across the city. The City’s Office of Innovation oversaw the distribution of the grants from the City’s allocation of the American Rescue Plan Act.

The City of Colorado Springs Office of Innovation announced the launch of a program to install 26 multi-modal counters, primarily in the downtown area. These sensors assist City and local leaders with reporting requirements and data collection for traffic operations, the ability to provide data to potential and current businesses, and for gaining general knowledge about the use of public parks, trails, and public rights-of-way.

Community Development Week celebrates the impact of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Home Investment Partnerships (HOME) and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) programs allocated through the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The City of Colorado Springs Community Development Division partners with local nonprofits by investing our federal entitlement grant funds to help create strong, sustainable, inclusive communities and quality affordable homes for all people in Colorado Springs. On Tuesday, April 18 at 10 a.m., City Council invites the public to join us for the swearing-in of the new District 3 and At-Large Councilmembers. The ceremony will take place on the Pioneers Museum South Lawn weather permitting. Presiding Municipal Court Judge, HayDen Kane, will swear in new Councilmembers voted on by the public in the April 4th Municipal Election.

The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) are pleased to announce the 8th Annual Pikes Peak Regional Law Enforcement Teen Academy. The Academy provides young adults with a unique opportunity to learn about the operations of regional law enforcement agencies in El Paso County. Some of the courses will include SWAT, K-9, Explosives Unit, criminal investigations, drone presentation, search and rescue, and negotiator training. 

Helping those experiencing homelessness and providing affordable housing are priorities for the City of Colorado Springs, but the city is just one part of a team of organizations working toward solutions.
