Colorado Springs Police Department’s K9 Riggs will receive a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from the non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K9 Riggs’ vest is sponsored by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. and will be embroidered with the sentiment “In memory of K9 Jovi”. 

The Colorado Springs Fire Department is implementing a first-ever for the department Special Operations Unit. This newly created position will carry out several duties including drone operations, public information officer support, incident safety officer, and health and wellness officer.

Mountain Metropolitan Transit (MMT) made history this summer with a record number of boardings. Fixed-route boardings increased by 243,547 during June and July 2023 as compared to the same period last year. July boardings set the all-time record for the most passenger trips in a single month.
